Cameron Rose is married with five children and has been living in Southside and Newington since 1994. He was born in Peeblesshire where he attended Lamacha Primary School, and later went to George Watsons College in the South side of Edinburgh.

He worked in the family business for two years before joining Edinburgh City Police. He served in Southside as well as Burdiehouse and Craigmillar. He also spent five years in uniform at Dalkeith and Penicuik before retiring in February 2005 at the age of 52 which he says is quite normal for a policeman.

Having spent 30 years on the police force, retiring at the rank of Inspector, Cameron's background has informed his stance on crime and Council bureaucracy. But as a local resident and parent he also feels strongly about improving traffic flow and improving local schools. He believes that 'Southside and Newington needs what Edinburgh needs: a vibrant economy, improved transport infrastructure and lower taxes'.

Apart from taking part in local public policy, Cameron enjoys seeing Edinburgh by bike and bagging Munros (completing his fiftieth in this fiftieth year). He is actively involved with Carrubbers Church as a Project manager and is currently helping to promote Care for the Family's Drug Proof Your Kids course in Edinburgh. He plans to visit Mexico City in 2007 in support off a street children's project.
